Berry Systems installed vehicle safety barriers for the new East Marketgait multi-storey car park in Dundee, designed to support the leisure centre and accommodate 500 vehicles.

This car park is a vital part of Dundee City Council’s redevelopment of the waterfront area, which includes a retail unit and a leisure centre with a competition-sized swimming pool, health suite, café, and flumes, all connected by a central foyer.

The Bri-Safe Wire Rope safety barrier was used throughout the car park, including as a column-mounted perimeter barrier. It meets BS EN 1991-1-1 standards and has a zero footprint in parking bays, maximising available space.

Its flexible design absorbs impact to minimise damage to both vehicles and the barrier, offering a balance of safety and architectural flexibility.

In areas lacking structural columns, floor-mounted Berry Beam Barriers were installed on RB1 Spring Steel Buffers to provide extra protection. Full mesh panel infills were also added, improving both the safety and aesthetics of the car park.
