Watts House Car Park
Berry Systems supplied ground floor mesh panels to enclose a bike store with bespoke framing, and installed handrails and balustrading in the stair cores.
The multi-storey car park at the Moulsecoomb campus of the University of Brighton, which won the Best New Car Park Award at the 2020 British Parking Awards, showcased Berry Systems’ crucial role in enhancing the development’s aesthetics.
The structure features over 830 unique pre-assembled frames, each fitted with three perforated panels.
These panels, powder-coated in five distinct RAL colours and one section in anodised gold, are arranged to create a façade that lightens in tone as the building height increases.
This design effectively reduces the building’s perceived mass and volume, blending it more smoothly with its surroundings.
Berry Systems provided and installed a range of elements for the project. Ground floor mesh panels enclosed a bike store with bespoke framing. Handrails and balustrading were installed in the stair cores.
Additionally, Berry Systems supplied lighting boxes, height restrictors, galvanised edge bars, and flashings around doors and windows.
Berry Systems’ involvement from the early design phase allowed for the consolidation of various packages into a comprehensive turnkey solution for the façade.
This early engagement enabled the presentation of preliminary designs to the architect and facilitated effective interface planning.
